Atéa Quintet Depart! The packing essentials...

Good evening!!! And happy first of the month!!!

Atéa Quintet here, we have literally been texting each other ALL DAY as we get ready to head up North on our first concert tour of Scotland.  This trip includes concerts in the beautiful Lake Districts and Birmingham too, where we will be giving a concert and chamber music masterclasses at the Conservatoire... Five excited friends getting ready for quite an adventure!
A snap from our last epic trip, to Denmark!
Now, having travelled together to various places (including Prague, Luxembourg, Denmark and the lovely Isle of Coll) our packing regime is becoming more and more refined...sort of... so tonight we would like to share a few of our travel essentials!

1. CROSSWORDS - now we can't pinpoint exactly when this habit of our started, but whenever we share long journeys together we plough through a few crosswords.  On a well-caffeinated morning we can complete some simple ones in under 5 minutes! Since tomorrow involves about 5 hours of travel a New Year bumper book should keep us occupied...

2. CONCERT ESSENTIALS LIST - we check, check, and check again!  Stands?  Music for all the concerts?  Music for our future concerts which we'll start to prepare? Music for chilling out when we need some fun music to blast through?  Got all the right instruments and paraphernalia? And a clothes list!  We've had some accidents in the past, such as missing concert trousers (which has since become a song...)

3. SUGAR, AND, WELL, FOOD IN GENERAL -"An army marches on its stomach" and in fact so do quintets!  We are quite an energetic quintet, at least when we are stocked up with caffeine and food!  There is rarely a rehearsal without some snacks, and whenever we get stuck or bogged-down with a piece, it's tea-break time; we all get 'hangry' and the only cure is to fuel up. Travelling around for concerts can be an exhausting process too, and to make sure we are on top form for each performance we make sure to have food to hand.  This will probably last the first hour of our journey...

4. Actually that's probably it!  No wonder we pack so lightly :)  Here are some of our suitcases for jolliness (with our feet shown for scale)

Goodbye for now and we shall write again from the Lake Districts!

Much love,

Atéas xxxxx
